Venom ingested by mouth is broken down in the stomach. Its harmless ( though I wouldn't know about how it would taste!!) unless it gets into the bloodstream.
If he injected himself, you'd know something was wrong in a few short minutes, it would mean a hospital trip at the least, & possibly death.
