I am from Australia. The most toxic snake in Australia belongs to the "FIERCE SNAKE" or other wise known as the INLAND TAIPAN. Unfortunately, the fierce is mis-represented by it's name. It's cousin, the TAIPAN is more aggressive and has killed more people.
On the otherhand, there is the Eastern Brown Snake that has one of the fastest strikes (strikes per second). It strikes in a similiar fashion to an India cobra, but lacks the large fangs for deep penetration. This is more frequent by people due to human and snake habitat being very close.
Then there is a range of others, like the MULGA snake that was though to be a relative of the BROWN snake species. Only recently, the venom has been discovered to match that of a BLACK snake.
Other snakes: Red Belly Black Snake, Death Adder, Bandy Bandy and more.
All Australian snakes are rated as DEADLY because of the toxin make-up and the isolated areas that most habitat, unlike some. One must not forget that the Sydney Funnel Web Spider is as deadly as any of the snakes.
