They are not the biggest venom yielders in the world, which is a bit of a pain for my research. I usually am lucky to get thirty mgs in a milking. Of course, as far as elapids this goes this is a respectable yield.... except that I am a bit spoiled by milking some big taipans (up to 500 mgs) and mulgas (can yield well over a half a gram, in fact the record for a single milking of any snake worldwide is held by a mulga, a bit over a gram!!). Temperment is usually pretty mellow, have not had any real problems with this genus.
