The list is off an ancient LD50 study by Broad, et al. in 1979. The study was never intended to be a complete ranking system. It was merely a bunch of Australian snakes with a few non-Australian snakes tossed in few relative comparison. Have a look at my database, I have the complete LD50 section there based on all the available published research data.

The list did NOT take into account frequency of attacks, etc... otherwise the inland taipan simply would not be there. There have only been a handful of bites, most (if not all) to keepers, and NO fatalities.
