Vision Cage and Heating

Hi I am posting for the first time here, I have been reading this board for over 3 monthes now and am almost ready to get my first mali. I am very excited and my setup is almost ready but, i have a vision cage and my heating isn't quite hot enough yet. It only allows for one heating device which only holds a certain wattage. I can't make it any higher or i could risk fire etc. I need to put more heat in and was wondering if it is hazardous to place a heat lamp in the cage itself? Since they don't climb i didn't think it would cause harm to the lizard but could i risk fire?
