Wow, good for you to know the details. You know, since I don't know that much, I didn't go down any tube. The syringe without a needle has sort of a "nipple" end to it and as long as I got that into his mouth (to where he couldn't shut it) I could get the food into him. I really surprised myself as too what I could accomplish when I could no longer afford the vet bills (I'd recently lost a female and maxxed out my credit card all at the same time :( ). The point was to get the "taste" of the mixture into his mouth and get him gulping it down. Though, he didn't gulp it down, more like he opened his throat and said "dump it in."
Maybe you'll know more about this, but I noticed that I could sometimes put 6cc of food down his throat while he appears to take it (as mentioned). Other times it just over flows out the sides of his mouth. Is there some sort of "holding area" down there that he can ingest when he wants? He seems to do the same when he drinks on his own.
Email me if you need a visual on the feeding thing. He is so cool about the handling and feeding that I could feed him and take a pic or two if you still need a refference that might help.
Jim
