SHROPSHIRE STAR (UK) 16 September 02 Alarm over stolen boa
A 7 foot boa constrictor called Bilbo Baggins has been stolen from his Mid Wales home sparking concerns for his safety.
The 12-year-old pet, which weighs about four stone and is worth between £800 to £1,000, was taken from its heated caravan in Llanrhaedr ym Mochnant between 5pm on Saturday and 7.30am yesterday.
Owner Lori Winder said her family, which cared for the harmless pet for more than a decade, was distraught over his disappearance and warned people not to be scared if they found him dumped in the area.
She said the snake must be kept over 75F to stay alive.
