I think A LOT of what distinguishes between the two is the geographic distribution. You have to realize that (as I last heard...things change fairly often) that they are subspecies, although some people claim that tenere should be its own species. It also seems that tenere has much more black coloration apparent on the red bands than fulvius has, but I am not totally sure...Andy
