Where to herp....

Where in Southeast Texas can you go and catch herps? No I don't want to know where your boards are I just want to be legal. I talked to a park ranger from Brazos Bend State Park and was informed that it is illegal to remove any snakes from there. All I want is to try and find a eastern hognose to pair up with the one I have now. Thanks in advanced.
