I think that Sonya made some great points! Well done! I, myself, am curious about the notion that captive turtles can introduce diseases to wild populations that can be devastating. I'm not disagreeing with this, I haven't the adequate knowledge or information to do so, but I do find it to a suspicious claim. It seems that it's just an excepted fact and no one ever challenges it. I'm not challenging it here either, I'm asking to be educated. Can someone please site for me a reference on-line or otherwise that examines a wild population of turtles that was drastically impacted by the introduction of captives? Thanks!
