pig nosed turtle - light question

Just got a pig nosed turtle a couple of days ago and put him in our tropical tank. When the light is off he swims around plenty and looks very comfortable. But when the light is on he doesn't move too much...is this normal, is the light too bright perhaps?

It is just a flourescent tube light, standard for tropical fish tanks.
