:Come on guys, somebody's got to know something about this. Did I violate some unsaid code of conduct? I was just wondering what is the best method for sexing neonate ATB's, and how old they should be before it is done? I'm asking this just because I read at thedarkgrove.com that he doesn't sell his animals sexed because he feels its too stressful (not that I'm suggesting he's wrong). I was looking for a nice solid colored male neonate to pair and raise (not housed together of course) with a solid red female I have right now, and I like what he has and that he is in SoCal, but he said he doesn't sell them sexed. For some reason I haven't been able to reach him by email, so I haven't had a chance to ask him myself. So, when is it okay to sex them, and how is it normally done. Any insight would be helpful. thanks
Hi .I breed amazon basin emeralds, and I don't
like to sex them until they're at least 6 months old.It can be done earlier, but personally I like to wait until they are bigger. The potential for tail injury in a snall, delicate baby is greater.I can understand why people don't want to sex
neonate amazon tree boas because they are so small and thin and easily stressed. I'm sure it could be done, but is probably best to wait
until they get some size on them.I hope this
is helpful.Good luck!
