Thanks Cindy!
Hoku spent the day at the vets yesterday. He's home now and doing well. The area where his shell is missing has been patched, the rest of the wounds left open.
I'm to flush the wounds daily with dilute betadine, then pack them with silverdine, daily for the next two weeks.
He's on antibiotics for almost 3 more weeks.
If he goes outdoors I have to wrap him in a bandage, that covers most of his plastron and carapace.
He goes back to the vet in 3 weeks to have the fiberglass patch removed, to see how that area is healing. But he'll be patched up again, with monthly visits to the vet, until the patch can be permanently removed.
All through this ordeal he has remaned bright eyed and determined, eating daily, but hiding a lot.So he's given lots of peace and quiet to relax and heal.
He's also put on 5 grams since last Monday, he's now 135 grams.
