: : How old are they? they should be a fair size before sex can be accualtly determined. also, you are better off judging sex by the anal opening, "V", on the plastron and by the tail. bear in mind that males have a hemipenis, thus creating a rather large bulge in the tail, and will also have a smaller "V". males usually have a longer, thinnner tail (after the vent) than females.
: Hi! I have 5 star tortoises (abt less than a year) and it's very difficult to deterine their sexes. But I've noticed that 3 of them have their plastrons completely flat, while the 2 of them have their plastrons a bit convex (slightly going outward, like a stomach, not concave). Are the flat ones male?
