Hi, I have about a 5 year old Sulcata tortoise.
I live in Philadelphia and it is not the best climate to raise them in. Up until recently he was small enough to keep indoors in the winter, but now he is way too BIG! I have built him a home with many heating accessories (ceramic heater, light, and heating pad) but I am always worried if this is enough heat for him.
My Sulcata is very enjoyable for about 4 months out of the year. They are very interesting to watch and very intelligent too. He adapted very well to my 3 dogs. He follows them around like he is one of them. During the hotter months he is kept outside with many hiding places. But he knows at about 4 p.m. he wants to go to bed.
I hope my comments are helpful to you. Eventhough I will have my tortoise as long as he is alive, I wish I would have researched him more before I bought him.
If you have any more questions feel free to EMAIL me at: ltldrunk@gateway.net
Thanks.
