Don't inject the Vitamin A in the Tortoise - (I could be wrong but) Vitamin A has often caused skin Sloughing in Tortoises, and although it is often used to successfully treat turtles, it is not (typically) recommended for tortoises. There are some true horror stories about vets injecting Vitamin A with horrific results.


: HI! GLAD I FOUND THIS BOARD! I RESCUED A 4" RED-FOOT TORTISE W/ EXTREME LEG DEFORMITIES AND OTHER PROBLEMS. MY VET SUGGESTED INJECTIONS OF CALCIUM AND VITAMIN A TO GET HER GOING. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE W/ THIS? SHOULD I DO BOTH INJ. AT ONCE,OR WAIT INBETWEEN? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRCIATED. IF YOU WANT THE WHOLE SAD STORY, PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND I WILL FILL YOU IN.
