: I have had a female Florida box turtle for three years now. It was found on a highway shoulder on its back by someone i used to work with. I "claimed" her, nursed her back to health, and have spoiled her since. I believed it was an Eastern Box until recently while searching for a mate... It's too late to return her to the wild even if i knew exactly where she was found. HELP!! I dont want to give her up and noone at the FFGC (Florida Freshwater & Game Commission) has responded to my inquiries. I'd actually like to find her a mate and breed her...
Scott try posting this at the box turtle forum, iv'e linked it for you below. Also you might recieve help there finding a mate for your turtle. Or check out the Herp Mall.
It's too late to release the turtle now, you've done all you can trying to contact the right people, so keeping and breeding her may be the best thing now.
Terry.
