Hi,
I have to dissagree on one point. A 40 gallon rubbermaid is much too small. Tortoises need room to move about. The smallest enclosure I would put a Russian in would be 4 feet by 3 feet. That would give it 12 square feet of floor space to play around in. You can get away with less, but in my opinion it's not fare to the animal in the long run. Just my 2 cents
