hi there well this may sound dumb but i use regular grass on top of topsoil once a week or so before mowin the lawn i go out and handpick a bunch of tall grass it sounds like it would be alot of work but not really and hes worth it anyway its good excercise!! all i do is lay the tall graas on top of about 3 in of soil push it down a little he can eat it and it doesnt hurt him i figured its about the same as hay and it seems to work well
beleive it or not it dries nicely and no bugs no smell for now till i get a cage built it is in a 100 gal fish tank im sure when i have a bigger cage ill have to fugure out somthin new and in the winter i use soil w out anything~ somtimes newspaper this seems to please him for now though and hes gettin his fiber too i still feed him his dandilions and endive etc but he eats grass in between feedings ps i know fish tanks are a no no but he s still real small and i plan on buildin him a better encoser this summer oh well just a sugg.. erica
