:Ooh, I've always wanted one. I see you got the three banded rather than the larger nine banded armadillo. My friends tell me to skip the idea as armadillos are the only other animal other than people to carry leprosy. Wouldn't want that.

There's no evidence that any of the armadillos other than the 9-banded can carry leprosy. Also, leprosy is a pretty curable disease, not horrifying as in the pre-antobiotic days!

The 3-banded only has 1 offspring per litter. So if you want quadruplets, you need a 9-banded (but then you've got the leprosy hazard and much harder care requirements!)
