Greetings to all,

As many of you know, TortoiseAid is now on a 2.27 acre parcel, escrow
closed last month. It's gorgeous...beautiful remote area in the western
Mojave Desert near Apple Valley, CA.

There is a 2.27 acre parcel directly to the west of this property (next
door so to speak) which is for sale. Sale was pending, but fell through,
the land was to be scraped clean of vegetation and a house was going to be
built. This land is gorgeous, perfect permanent habitat for desert
tortoises and other desert creatures.

The land is pristine, full of Joshua trees, many species of desert shrubs,
cacti, wildflowers, lizards, small mammals, and snakes.

There are several items I would like to offer at auction to raise funds to
purchase this parcel.

There are photos of the parcel at both the TortAid and Gopherus listserve
photo sections. More current photos will be added tomorrow evening, of the
area in full bloom.

If you would like to see photos of the parcel and are not on either of
those lists, please feel free to contact me and I will send them via e-mail.

This parcel, which has electricity and water service to it, has an asking
price of $15,000.00. After speaking with the realtor, I was told that an
offer of $14,000.00 would suffice. With electricity and water, during
years of drought, etc. the area could still be irrrigated/maintained to
provide a wild habitat and permanent sanctuary for Desert Tortoises which
test negative for URTD. I would like to section off .4 acres for an
endangered species breeding programme for an arid species of tortoise.

As always, any animal which needs rescue or rehabilitation assistance
will receive it, as well as proper placement in conjunction with the Kern
County chapter of the CTTC, and Turtle Homes.

Currently I am working on the Box Turtle habitats...

If anyone would be interested in donating items to be auctioned, please
e-mail tortoiseaid@tortoiseaid.org

Kindest regards, (and Happy Spring!)
