If Cypress were as dangerous as you say there would be many horror stories posted all over this board.
I use Cypress mulch for many of my tortoises and my only concern is them ingesting it( I feed them in a seperate area to avoid this). With some species, I had more respiratory problems with hay than with the mulch.
Are you sure you didn't mean to say Pine or Cedar mulch?

:Cypress mulch is very dangerous to the health of both Reptiles and Mammals due to the Phenols present. It should NEVER BE USED as a substrate!
