when i have the time and money, i will seperate them into completely different enclosures, the problem being that this Russian was a complete surprise... i don't even know anyone with a Russian... i don't know how this person knew i had a tortoise already... i have no clue where he came from and i was completely unprepared for him... If i can put up a divider, then i can make another cage when i have a chance to get it done, but right now i just don't have the time or the money to do that immediatly. Last nite he spent the nite in my closet with a little basking area and a shoe box to sleep in!!!!!! As for different climates, one side of my cage is a bit too hot for my redfoot (he rarely goes over there) and would be good for the russian, also my humidity is from misting, so if i don't mist the one side and open that half of the top more, i think that would keep the humidity lower for the russian to live in until he has his own home. They will not be allowed contact and the russians side of the cage will be thoroughly cleaned before i put him in there, but im waiting for the go ahead from someone respectable here before actually doing it.
