What time a day are you home? I find if I come home at lunch some times I "catch" my babies (a redfoot & Yellow foot) out romping when it's nice and quite. I also vary my feeding time , giving them a little bit of greens in the morning to encourage them to come out, then a little bit again when I get home about 5:00. They know what food time is too, and come out charging from their hide spots in the afternoon, further proof that they've been taking advantage of the warmth and light. I also watch where they are, if they are moved around when I come home I know they were out some time during the day, I have lots of places for them and they use each and every one of them. So yes, hide spots are VERY important, and just because you don't always see them doesn't mean they're not using them!
