with the ability of a turtle or tortoise to hold on for months without showing outward signs of illness, by the time you SEE a problem and separate them, they will most likely be close to death (especially the more fragile hingeback).

Are you opposed to housing these animals properly? No one here has any benefit to you doing it either way, they have nothing to gain from it. They simply want you to know that you are not caring for these animals in a safe way, and that you are putting their lives at risk. There is plenty of current, reliable information out there on how to keep each of these species, and plenty of regular posters here who can help you with how to house each one.

Waiting until they are sick is no way to care for these animals. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
