A lot of tortoises graze on rye grasses, it is not bad for them. There are many grasses that tortoises can eat...sudan grass is one to beware of, it can become toxic and should be avoided...alfalfa should as well because it's protein content is too high.
There are many grasses that are wonderful. Sulcatas are grazers and should definitely have a diet that consists of grasses and healthy weeds and flowers...
