If you live in MS, then everything good for your tortoise is very likely to be growing in your yard! Mulberry leaves, dandelions (both leaves & flowers), clover flowers & clover leaves, plantains (both broad & narrow leaf varieties), daylily flowers, chick weed, wild strawberries, to name a few. Try offering pothos leaves the next time you trim one, or sedum leaves (called hen & chicks).

By the way, shedding is normal but it sure can make a tortoise look nasty, & my Russian has a slight flair at the rear of his shell, so this deformity might not be as bad as you think it is.
