: I am think of getting a pair of Russian Tortoises which I would like to keep outside for 4-5 months out of the year, but I l live in a fairly wet and humid area (Coastal New Jersey). I understand Russians like more of an arid environment and am wondering if anyone out there keeps them outside who lives in a similar type climate as I do?

I raise them in South Carolina. Humidity is high. The russians do well and breed. I think the most important thing is keeping them dry. They can get wet but need somewhere that they can dry out.
