: I've been looking at pictures of Russian tortoises all evening.. they all look so fat and nasty compared to Sampson. All the others' shells look so dull and ugly compared to him. I think Sampson is colorful and very nice looking. I only feed him about a handfull of Radiccio, Endive, and Romaine a day... he usually doesn't even eat all of it.. and he really doesn't like to eat anything else. The previous owner thought he was a box turtle and tried to feed him insects, along with carrots, peas, and corn. There's no telling how old he is, and this year will be his first hibernation EVER (probably). Any thoughts just by looking at him?
