First Tortoise

I’m wondering what the recommended first Tortoises are? Here is what I’m looking for in a tortoise; maybe someone can tell me if such a thing exists. First and for most I would like something that stays small. Some thing that I could keep in a 40g and it would be comfortable. I would like some thing that is hardy and some thing that I can feed produce to that I can prepare for a week at a time and keep in the fridge. A friend of mine has two Russians. I don’t know much about them but the size seems to be dead on for what I’m looking for. So does such a tortoise exist, or am I dreaming in colour.
