Who ever told you to hibernate a hingeback regardless of the subspecies was mistaken. If you are feeding it fruits and such I'm going to assume it is a forest hingeback. Now I've known these to withdraw into the shell for months. Be sure it is well hydrated and monitor the weight so you do not see any dramatic weight loss. If it is a bells, they will do the same thing but by hibernating it I'm sure you stressed the guy a little.
