In Reply to: cuttlefish bone in tort food GOOD SORCE OF CALCIUM?? posted by kenny on June 14, 2002 at 06:36:22:
You don't have to grind it up. Just remove the hard backing and place the rest in the tortoise enclosure. They'll eat it when needed. I divide the cuttlebone into 1/4 sections. It takes about 3 months for hatchlings to eat it, less time for adults to do so. If they don't crave calcium, and they are getting enough in the diet, they may not eat it at all.
: I was wondering if i add grind cuttlefish bone powder to the veg, would it be a good sorce of calcium for my elongata tort?
