Its whats called a double yolk. In birds, you have about a 10% chance of getting babies to hatch. I'm pretty sure its about the same with reptiles. If there are two embryos that start to form very close to each other, then you may get siamese twins. If they develop apart, you'll get fraternal twins. If its infertile you'll get one large smelly egg. Twins born from eggs like these are smaller and more difficult to rear.
: Came home the other day and looked in the hidebox (in the outdoor pen) for my russian tortoises. In it I found 2 eggs on the brick floor. As you can see, one of them is a little strange.
: Anyone seen this before? What usually happens? Since they were laid on the surface I already have my doubts about them. The top row were laid in early May.
