a 'stalking' leopard

All of my leopard tortoises have their own favorite hiding spot in their back yard. My newest female "Dot", likes to hang out near the water dish I have sunk into the ground. It's still in the 70*s here so she never goes in. She just paces around and looks into it. Today she was resting under a clump of monkey grass nearby when I took the pan out to clean & refill. When I came back she was in the hole for the dish, eating a worm! This is new to me. Especially since she's one of the biggest eaters. She's always out there grazing on Annie's pasture mix.
I wonder if she knew there would be worms and creepy crawlies under there so that's why she was stalking the water dish? Very odd... if anyone has any similar worm eating experiences with herbivores, let me know your take on it.
