What do you think? A good starter species?
: I would suggest a Greek Tortoise or a Hermans Tortoise. These are a hibernating species however if you bring it indoors and keep it's enclosure in a summertime conditions then they won't hibernate. I suggest this tortoise because it is very hearty and friendly.
: I would also suggest Dean Ash as a source. He has TONS of exp with them and can be reached at his website at http://members.aol.com/deansh/myhomepage/photo.html
: As far as a non-hibernating species, you could try a pancake tortoise or an egyptian tortoise. Egyptians are a little more fragile but the pancake tortoises are VERY hearty and arguably one of the most interesting of all tortoises. They are pricey but worth it! There are others also like Spider Tortoises, but they are a relatively fragile species and not much is known about them yet, but it's getting better.
: For what it's worth
