: : I hear that these torts are big eaters. I have a 4 inch one and i was told that it likes to eat this tortoise chow. Which it does. The person told me to give it six of these things a day plus its veggies and other stuff. It only eats about a half of stick of chow. Thats not a heavy feeder to me. Whats wrong. I have it in a large indoor pen with sand as substarte and a heat lamp. It has a hiding space and all. Tempature never gets below 70 at night

: Do you have water available? I have 9 sulcatas and they all eat tons of food. I mainly feed them grass (when they are outside), greens, and some bulk veggies. I also give them warm soaks about once a week. I also keep mine on rabbit pellets, I have heard bad things about plain sand.

What have you heard about sand?
