Bragging about my new Hermann's / food preference.

I recently acquired a hatchling Hermann’s tortoise. He’s about 3.5” total length and I think that the seller said that he was 3-4 months old. Since I live in an apartment he’s currently in a large (2’x3’) plastic tub under a 50W HPS lamp and a UV 5.0 bulb. He ate right out of the box (shipped) and otherwise seems quite healthy and active. I’ve been feeding him a rotation of romaine lettuce, savoy, endive, escarole, and handfuls of garden weeds, with calcium supplementation every other day. He also has access to a scuttle-bone full time. His absolute favorite plant in the world is the little clover weed that grows in the lawn outside my building. Now that the weather is nice here, I’ve been letting him run around outside while I garden or read. He dives right into the clover and eats his share before moving off. Surprisingly, he doesn’t touch dandelions when outside, nor plantain!

Is this food preference normal?
