Before you put Irwin in hibernation... did you make sure he had no parasites? Did you make sure that his digestive system was COMPLETELY empty? Was the temperature steady? Could he have gotten warm... woken up, then got cold again and that have done some damage to him? Did you watch his weight while he was "under"? All of these things could have be detrimental to him...
