As Keri said it does sound like a bit like a Russian, or at least the price does.
But Russians don't have the spurs on the thighs.

Here's a photo of a golden greek, which seem to be for sale everywhere. But the price is usually higer than $49:

If it's neither then it's more than likely a greek (spur thighed),(Testudo graeca) but not a golden greek. But the price doesn't sound right. $49 dollars sounds a little too cheap for a greek.
