Some sulcatas have mild pyramiding, which means that the scutes are raised, but not nearly as bad as the pyramided torts in the last pictures.
Quite often these mildly pyramided sulcata will smooth out as they grow.
If the diet and environment is improved.
It's actually quite difficult to find *captive* juvenile or sub adult sulcatas without some degree of pyramiding.
They do seem far more prone to it than other species of tortoise.
