First I hope you're keeping the two completely seperated
and the new one quarantined especially because it
is sick. My Sulcata when he's indoors is under
a 150 watt bulb AND a 160 watt active UV bulb which
produces a basking area of 105 degrees air
temperature (lights are 2 feet from the surface
of an 8 ft. long enclosure - 300 gallon). You
need to up your Hot temperature and still provide
a choice for the animal to go from that down to
room temperature (Heat gradient, gradual hot to
warm to cool changes). Don't keep any reptile at
a "Constant", they need to thermoregulate (self-
regulate their body temperature). This is basic
Sulcata care. Make sure there is access to fresh
water to avoid dehydration.
The first Sulcata your vet should have seen was
your younger one, soon after purchase for a wellness
exam. If your vet is not qualified or competent
to see/treat tortoises, you ought to find one that
is. It's possible you may need to treat the tortoise
with antibiotics, I'm not experienced with this, but
others on this forum may be able to give you enough
advice to even forward to your vet if this is the
only one available.
Sorry, don't want to bombard you with coulda/shoulda/woulda
stuff. What are your set-ups like? What size
is the tortoise and is it eating? Good luck. niki
