this hits it pretty much on the nose. Once you build a nice pen outside for a boxie, and get the plants growing and the area maintained well so it is sustaining itself, boxies are very easy to care for, you just suppliment the diet with what they can't get in the pen, check on them for illnesses, and make sure the water stays fresh and clean.
Indoors they turn into rocks and don't want to move much, I think this is due to their tuning to all the nuances of outdoor life. They like mornings and evenings, as it is dimmer, they like heavy dews, rainfall... all kinds of things we just can't reasonably reproduce indoors.
But I have seen plenty of folks who maintain redfoots in greenhouses or in rooms of their house, with trips outdoors as much as possible, and they do great, much better than a boxie in that situation.
