My wife and I got two red-foot tortoises yesterday and I wanted to make she we had them set up correctly. You all seemed like the right folks to ask.
The two are babies (hatched in January) and are about 3-4" in carapace length. We have them in a 20 long with cyprus mulch as a substrate, which we keep moist. We also have buried a tupperware container in the substrate which is filled with moist spagnum moss. They burry themselves in the moss. We have a UVB floursent and a heat lamp. Temps are 88 (hot) - 80 (cool). We are feeding them romaine lettece, red leaf lettece, collard greens, yellow squash, carrots, and a little apple and strawberry. We also have a shallow water dish in the aquarium, which one was laying in a few minutes ago (now he(?) has burried himself in the moss again.) We have been misting the cage to keep up the humidity.
Am I missing anything? Thank you for any help.
Jon
PS how often should we suppliment their food? I have read once a week, twice a week, and every other day.
