I house my boxies in 4x8 pens, and would think that's about the minum for one or a pair. I'm prepping to build a 50'x100' enclosure for a large group of north american's, though.

I used pressure treated 4x4 posts that had been out in weather a while (rinses off excess chemicals). I made a frame that is 4'x8' out of these, and extremely sturdy. Works well for my boxies and I can put all kinds of hills of dirt, logs, rocks, and such in it for them to hide in.

It's outdoors, so it's deep enough digging for them, and easy to maintain.

Indoors I can't reallyt hink of anything but like a stock tank or comparable, of the largest size, for maybe a russian tort?

I dunno, though, don't wanna push a tort I am not an expert on, I just have kept boxies for 20+ years now, so I know they can't tolerate small spaces or indoors well at all. Perhaps some russian experts can come up with the ultimate indoor housing idea for them?
