We also have 2 leopards. We've had them for about 3 years now and adopted them from someone that had them for about 2 1/2 years. There could be several things causing the loose stool. As EJ mentioned in his reply post, have them checked for parasites, especially if they are outdoors. Also, changes in the diet could cause that as well as stress. If we give them a piece of fruit as a treat, which doesn't happen often, sometimes that could make it runny. Moving them to a new house could cause them some stress, which could also be a cause.
Are all the stools that way or has it been just some? If it is just one or two I may not worry too much. Have you ever had him to the vet?
On another note, it is good that you are watching things like the stools and stuff. Many people wouldn't really be concerned which could be bad for the tortoise. You are doing the right thing to ask about stuff like that. My husband and I don't have children, but we do have shellchildren. It is funny how we get to be "experts" on the kind of stuff!
