I've asked about my sulcata eating dirt before, and it has not hurt him yet, but I still wonder, how much is too much? Is this normal behavior. He is about three inches (carapace length.) I have an outdoor tortoise tray in which I rotate smaller trays planted with grass mix from tortoise cafe. I rotated them out today and he just started eating dirt, and kept at it. I halted it, fearful (read: paranoid) of impactions. Is this normal behavior? I know my monitors rub their food in dirt and on rocks, and some researchers conclude this supplies minerals. Could it be similar? Any ideas/comments?
Thanks,
Ryan
