Pancake tortoises are perhaps one of the most interesting species of tortoises in the entire world. They are also one of the most heartiest
of tortoises on the rare end of the tortoise species.

No offense, but being that you are 14 and your hard earned money comes a little less often than us adults, I would start out with a russian tortoise. You can get a pair at LLL Reptile for $40 plus shipping. That way you can get a tortoise now and get some practice in.

At your rate of pay you would have to save your money (all of your money) for one ENTIRE year. Most pancake hatchlings are at least $500.00. Plus shipping is always $20-$30.

If it turns out that you like the tortoise hobby, then you can get the pancakes or some other species later in life. Don't start out in this hobby with a pancake, you'll probably lose your $500.00 very quickly unless you have someone helping you.
