Hello
I just got a baby red foot (3" or so) yesterday. he was shipped to me here in ND from GLades Herp. I have placed him into a 34"x14' translucent plastic tub. He has bed-a-beast for substrate (which holds humidity quite well). I placed a rock in the middle for a visual barrier. As far as lighting, he has a 36" ZooMed 5.0 bulb, and a 75 watt zoomed spot on one end. His hide box is on the other end. The room he is in is about 85 during the day and 75-78 at night. The bedding is about 2" deep.
My questio is: how soon could I expect him to eat? He does not seem to be scared at all, but has not eaten even a bite. This may be normal, but all my previous experience with cb torts has had them eating at least a little almost right away. I have offered kale, mustard greens, leaf lettuce, frozen mixed veggies, ZooMed canned tortoise food (which he did sample yesterday, but ignored today), strawberries, blueberries, escarole, and mushrooms. No dice. I am really not worried yet, but just curious...
Also, any suggestions about his home? I plan to put a micro humidity booster in his hide box, but it's still quite humid in there...
Thanks
