I have to agree with Ed on this one. I kept a baby hermann's (admittedly, just one) in a 30 gallon for its first year. I got it in November of 2000, it had hatched the previous August, and it postively thrived. The temperature is easy to control, cleaning is easy, and it (apparently)suffered no ill effects. I moved it into an outside pen for the summer, but the 30 gallon worked fine for at least 8 months. Enough time to build something bigger.
