I aggree with Marrisa, if by dry food you mean pellets or chow.
I would buy a bale of Bermuda Grass hay, probably around $8-$10 a bale.
Mix a variety of greens, not just romaine, in with the hay.
They may not take to the hay straight away, but will soon learn to enjoy it.
I do fed romaine and endive, but also go for other greens (many of which are cheaper). At my local grocery store I can get two big bunches of turnip greens for a dollar.
So I give them romaine and endive everyday, mixed with the hay and either/or turnip, kale, collards etc.
